Rear Bumper
July 2002

When I bought the Scrambler it had a bent rear bumper with a low hanging 2" ball. The previous
owner mentioned he had used it to uproot a tree. Nice for uprooting, but not very trail-friendly.
I decided to build one using 4"x2" rectangle tubing with a 1/8" wall. I thought that 1/8" wall
would be thick enough, but I proved myself wrong in 2007(!) I used sleeves inside the bumper to
prevent bending it when tightening the bolts. I also used a pair of D-ring mounting points made
from 1/2" steel plate and 1" steel D-ring supports.
